Top Fashion Newsmaker for 2005

On the last Oscar's it would be easier to count the celeb women who weren’t wearing the aforementioned dress style. I think there were two of them. So much fabric was flowing off so many rear hems that I stopped trying to write down all of the train-wearers. To make matters much more complicated, everyone who wasn’t wearing a train, exactly, was wearing a fishtail hem that looked suspiciously like a train. Or a fishtailed train, which just pushed me past my ability to process any more fashion categories. Below are the top 3 male and female best dressed on that occasion.

Renée Zellweger: Fishtail
TrainRenee pulls off a sexy retro look in a fishtailed train gown with cute lil’ ruffles. I love the corset detailing on the bodice. I also love that it’s cool to be pale again, rather than all orange fake-tanned.

Hilary Swank: Drapey Train
When navy blue goes bad… Doesn’t this look like bad polyester you (well, someone less fashionable than you) would purchase at T.J. Maxx? A rather dowdy gown for this year’s Oscar Queen. Although it did make her boobs look phenomenal.

Salma Hayek: Fishtail Train
Damn, girl! I can just picture the men hyperventilating and falling over as she passes. I think she looks fabulous. And if you stuck a feather on her head, she’d resemble a saloon girl from the old wild west. (Or maybe that’s just me.)

Robin Williams
No matter how hard I try, I just can’t accept men in pink. Nope. Can’t do it. Particularly when it’s pink worn with a weird little tie.

Sean Combs
An interesting twist on the traditional tux, done in soft velvet with matte black trim. Not only does it look good, everyone's gonna want to touch it.

Johnny Depp
Okay, so it’s a little dorky, it doesn’t fit well, and the tie is silly. But it’s on Johnny. So it ends up being sexy, anyway. We should all be blessed with this ability to look cool by dressing like a geek.
